The Netherlands Payroll product at Shine

Our Netherlands payroll product, today offered as Employes by Shine, is a SaaS solution that helps Dutch companies run accurate, compliant payroll and manage core employee data in one place. It operates in a complex, business‑critical, regulation‑heavy domain where reliability and correctness matter every single month. The product is established and growing with an existing customer base and a full roadmap of improvements and new capabilities.

This role is an opportunity to take real ownership of that product while still having significant freedom to shape where it goes next. Payroll is inherently complex, and your goal is to make something complicated feel remarkably simple for customers. You will work with a strong, complete cross‑functional team — five engineers, an Engineering Manager, a Product Designer and a Payroll Expert — and have direct access to customers, business stakeholders and leadership. At the same time, the journey goes beyond optimising an existing product: Employes is becoming part of the broader Shine Payroll proposition, creating opportunities to rethink the product, expand its addressable market and build capabilities that can scale beyond the Netherlands. It is a role with significant autonomy, visible business impact and plenty of complex product problems still left to solve.

Your role as a Senior Product Manager, Netherlands Payroll

As Senior Product Manager for our Netherlands payroll product, you take end‑to‑end ownership of the strategy and roadmap and steer where the product goes next. You translate company and Payroll Tribe strategy into clear priorities and trade‑offs for the team, and work closely with Engineering, Design and our Payroll Expert to turn complex, compliance‑heavy requirements into simple, scalable product solutions. You ensure we continue to serve existing customers exceptionally well, while evolving the product as part of Shine Payroll and unlocking new growth opportunities beyond the Netherlands.

Your responsibilities will include

• Own the product strategy and roadmap for our Netherlands payroll product, translating company and Payroll Tribe strategy into clear priorities and trade‑offs for the team.

• Lead product discovery to identify the highest‑impact customer and business problems, and work closely with Engineering, Design and our Payroll Expert to turn complex payroll requirements into simple, scalable product solutions.

• Drive product initiatives end‑to‑end — from discovery through delivery, launch, adoption and measurement of impact — using customer insights, product data and commercial performance to inform decisions.

• Partner with Sales, Customer Success and Marketing to ensure strong alignment between product development and market needs, and to support successful launches and adoption in the market.

• Contribute to broader Payroll Tribe initiatives, including the transition towards Shine Payroll and opportunities to reuse capabilities across markets and products.

📍 Job located in Amsterdam, Netherlands with possibility of two remote working days per week.

About you

• You bring strong Product Management experience, ideally in B2B SaaS, with a proven track record of owning a product roadmap and driving discovery and delivery end‑to‑end.

• You have strong technical affinity and enjoy working closely with engineers on complex, rules‑based or integration‑heavy products; experience in payroll, HRTech, FinTech or another regulated/compliance‑heavy domain is a strong plus.

• You are data‑driven and outcome‑focused: you combine qualitative customer insights, product analytics and commercial performance to shape priorities and make clear product decisions.

• You are a clear, structured communicator and strong stakeholder manager, able to explain complex topics simply and align engineers, payroll experts, commercial teams and leadership around a shared direction.

• You demonstrate high ownership and strong prioritisation: you create focus in an environment with many opportunities and competing requests, collaborate closely with Engineering, Design and domain experts, and are comfortable making progress in ambiguity.

• You communicate fluently in English and Dutch (C1/C2 level).

Nice to have:

• Experience with payroll, HRTech, FinTech or another regulated/complex domain

• Experience with product‑led growth and self‑service SaaS products

• Experience working on products for SMEs and/or accountants

• Experience with integrations, APIs and third‑party platforms

• Experience working in an international or multi‑market organisation
