Part of something bigger
Today we're part of Cegid, a European leader in cloud software for finance and accounting. Together we're building Europe's leading financial copilot for small businesses and their accountants.
Shine already supports more than 400,000 small businesses. As part of Cegid, we now reach over one million small businesses and 15,000 accountants across Europe.
We're a multicultural team working from France, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, contributing to a wider European network that spans Spain, Portugal and Belgium.
Your hiring experience matters
Just as we respect our customers' time, we respect yours. Your experience with Shine and Cegid should feel simple, transparent and genuinely supportive.
If this sounds like somewhere you want to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
The Accounting Core Team at Shine
The Accounting Core Area is the engine behind Shine's accounting platform. We own the foundational layer that makes accounting possible for thousands of small businesses and their accountants across Europe — the bookkeeping engine, chart of accounts, VAT services, journal management, and statutory reporting.
This area is entering one of the most consequential phases in Shine's history. We're building the accounting infrastructure that will power the next generation of our platform across multiple European markets — and we're doing it while the platform is live and scaling. The team is currently evolving its structure to better reflect this ambition, moving toward a model organized around a universal accounting engine and market-specific compliance layers.
This is a rare opportunity to shape that transition from the inside.
Your Role as a Product Director, Accounting Core
As Product Director, Accounting Core, you own the accounting engine at the heart of Shine's platform. This is not a maintenance role — you are responsible for evolving foundational infrastructure while shipping the compliance deliverables that matter most to our accountant and SMB customers across Europe.
Your responsibilities will include:
Own the Accounting Core roadmap end-to-end — balance near-term compliance deliverables with the long-term architecture bets that determine whether Shine can scale across European markets.
Lead and develop your product teams — support and challenge your PMs, designers, and engineering leads. Set a high bar for outcome-focused discovery and delivery.
Drive cross-market compliance coverage — own bookkeeping, VAT, journal management, and statutory reporting across our core markets, and sequence what gets built when.
Define the engine architecture for the next phase — in partnership with engineering leadership, shape how the accounting engine is structured to serve multiple markets without multiplying complexity.
Be the voice of Accounting Core — translate domain complexity into clear product constraints for adjacent teams and leadership.
Track what matters — bookkeeping completion rates, compliance coverage by market, and the overall health of the engine.
About you
You have deep accounting or bookkeeping domain knowledge — you understand double-entry bookkeeping, chart of accounts design, VAT reconciliation, and statutory exports. You don't need it explained.
You have led product teams working on complex, foundational B2B SaaS products — ideally in accounting, ERP, or fintech. You know what it means to own infrastructure that other teams depend on.
You are an architectural thinker who can hold the tension between shipping near-term and building for scale — and make deliberate trade-offs rather than defaulting to one or the other.
You thrive under real operational pressure — sequencing compliance deliverables across markets, making architectural trade-offs on a live platform, and moving fast without waiting for perfect information.
You lead with confidence and empathy through change — giving your PMs and designers real ownership, setting outcome-based goals, and raising the quality of discovery and delivery without becoming the bottleneck.
You are AI-fluent across the board — you use AI tooling in your own workflow, you think critically about where AI changes what accounting software should do, and you can shape product bets where AI is a core capability (auto-categorisation, anomaly detection, intelligent reconciliation).
You are comfortable owning cross-team dependencies and sequencing under pressure.
You communicate with precision — with engineers on system design, with accountants on workflow needs, and with leadership on strategic trade-offs.
You are fluent in English.
