Your Role as a General Manager, Germany
Germany is Shine's largest opportunity. Two products lines operate here under three established brands: sevdesk by Shine (accounting and invoicing), Shine invoicing, and Kontist by Shine (business banking); serving the self-employed, micro-businesses, and small companies. The mandate for this role is to bring them together into one market business: one commercial strategy, one budget, and one go-to-market story, with a single person accountable for the result.
It is a build role at a decisive moment for the category. Digitisation of accounting and invoicing across the German SME market is accelerating, with mandatory e-invoicing rolling out through 2027 and 2028, a structural tailwind for the whole sector. Shine, backed by Silver Lake, is consolidating a set of strong European brands into a single platform spanning banking, invoicing, and accounting. The General Manager for Germany owns how that comes together.
Run the market as one business. Shine has two product lines active in Germany. Your job is to make them win as a single market: one number, one budget, one go-to-market story. You are the single accountable owner of total German revenue. You hold the full-market commercial budget and decide how it is spent, across both subscription and banking economics. You lead the entire local commercial team. The Business Unit Leads run the products. You run the market.
Your responsibilities will include:
WHAT YOU OWN:
The market number. You are the single accountable owner of total German revenue across every product line, against plan.
The full-market commercial budget. You hold the market envelope and set how it is deployed across product lines and channels to hit the number.
Blended market CAC and payback, and the efficiency of the market's total commercial spend.
The local commercial team, country marketing, customer success, and market-level partnerships.
The customer relationship at market level, across the full portfolio.
Market coherence: one go-to-market story across three established brands.
WHAT YOU DECIDE
How the market budget deploys across product lines and channels to hit plan.
Local pricing, within global pricing policy.
Which products to lean into or hold in the market, within portfolio strategy.
Local hiring within the approved headcount plan.
WHAT IS NOT YOURS
The global product roadmap. That sits with the global product organisation.
Product-line execution detail. You set the frame and arbitrate. You do not run the Business Units day to day.
YOUR FIRST TWELVE TO EIGHTEEN MONTHS
Bring sevdesk by Shine, Kontist by Shine, and Shine invoicing into one German market plan: one budget, one go-to-market story.
Bring the commercial teams into one organisation and lead it as one.
Set the local commercial strategy and hit the market number.
Sharpen market-level commercial efficiency across CAC and payback.
Build the commercial engine to capture the e-invoicing rollout across 2027 and 2028.
Partner closely with the global product organisation as the platform evolves.
Iterate on the operating rhythm, a monthly market review and a weekly commercial
HOW YOU WILL BE MEASURED
Total German market revenue against plan.
Market CAC and payback.
Market net revenue retention.
Market share.
📍 Job located in Berlin, with occasional travel across the region and Europe.
About you
You have owned a market or business-unit revenue number in B2B software, fintech, or SaaS, ideally serving small businesses, the self-employed, or accountants, and you have been measured on it.
You have held a real commercial budget and answered for CAC and payback, not just topline growth.
You have run more than one product line or revenue stream at once, ideally spanning different economic models such as subscription and banking revenue, and made the trade-offs between them under a single budget.
You have built or rebuilt a commercial team and led it through change, including post-merger integration.
You have operated in a PE-backed or post-merger environment, where the structure is still forming and you helped form it.
You are in-market in Berlin, with native German and fluent English.
