Your hiring experience matters
Just as we respect our customers' time, we respect yours. Your experience with Shine and Cegid should feel simple, transparent and genuinely supportive.
If this sounds like somewhere you want to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
The Banking & Compliance team at Shine
We have a solid foundation in place and now we're scaling it. Over the next year, we will build a best-in-class banking projects and provider management unit, standardising how we implement payment rails, bringing rigour to our provider relationships, and freeing our team to do what matters most: delivering the strategic, forward-looking initiatives that expand Shine's payment capabilities across Europe. This is a rare opportunity to shape not just a function, but a high-performing team culture — one where we consistently raise the bar on execution, provider performance, and payment infrastructure at scale.
Your role as a Senior Subject Matter Expert - Payments
As Senior Subject Matter Expert for Payments, you will be the definitive internal authority on how Shine's payment rails work, the risks they carry, and how they connect to our provider and regulatory ecosystem. Reporting directly to the Director of Strategic Providers and Projects, you will support the wider Shine team in the definition requirements from a systemic/external provider perspective across SEPA (SCT, SCT Inst, SDD), Cards, and International payments.
Your goal is to ensure that every product, provider, and project decision touching payments is grounded in deep technical and regulatory expertise, and that Shine's payment setup is scalable and compliant across our key markets: France, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Spain and Portugal.
Payments Expertise
Serve as the primary SME for all SEPA payment rails (SCT, SCT Inst, SDD), International payment methods and card scheme flows, with deep knowledge of risk, flows, and scheme rules.
Support Operations, Compliance, Legal, Product and Tech teams in correctly interpreting scheme requirements when building or modifying payment features.
Provider Management
Hold our Strategic Providers (processor, scheme, correspondent bank etc.) accountable for the service they provide (SLA management, incident follow-up, invoice validation etc.)
Negotiation of new features/contracts/pricing
Regulatory and Scheme Compliance
Perform gap analyses on upcoming regulation (PSD3/PSR, expansion of VoP etc.) and their impact on Shine's payment infrastructure.
Liaise with scheme representatives and correspondent banks on technical scheme matters.
Strategic Input
Act as a critical input into new market or product assessments: what payment infrastructure is needed, what the risks are, and what the path to compliance looks like.
Contribute to the definition and prioritisation of the discovery roadmap for payment capabilities.
Support provider RFPs and contract reviews by defining technical and scheme-compliance requirements.
Internal Enablement
Train and upskill colleagues across Banking Projects, Product, and Operations on payment scheme mechanics.
Develop and maintain internal documentation, decision frameworks, and reference materials for payment topics.
Act as escalation point for Operations and Customer Support on complex payment incidents requiring scheme-level analysis.
📍 Job located in Paris / Berlin / Amsterdam / Copenhagen
What you Bring:
5+ years in a payments-focused role within a bank, payment institution, or fintech, with direct hands-on expertise in SEPA and card schemes.
Must have operated at scheme level, rulebook knowledge, return reason code analysis, direct scheme correspondence, or STEP2/RT1/TIPS connectivity experience strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of card scheme mechanics, authorisation flows, disputes, and BIN structures.
Strong grasp of PSD3/PSR, EPC scheme rules, and the European payments regulatory landscape.
Full professional fluency in English is required and French would be a plus.
Able to translate complex technical payment concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-specialist audiences.
Comfortable being the go-to expert, driving clarity in ambiguous situations and owning the full scope of a subject not just a task list.
